Roman Reigns Paul Heyman a ‘performance improver’ in todays Wrestling news
Reigns was full of praise for his “wiseman.”
It’s no surprise that Roman Reigns, the undisputed WWE Universal Champion, is a huge fan of Paul Heyman.
Reigns appeared Friday on the Pat McAfee Show in order to promote his appearance in Friday’s SmackDown. He was asked about Heyman, who is soon to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and if he should also induct himself.
Reigns did not have any real insight into who should be the “wise man” but he had plenty to say in a positive way about him.
“Whoever is doing (the induction), they need to be themselves and tell it like it is because Paul’s an incredible man…an unbelievably man. What he has done in his business and personal life, that I know because I am friends with him and I work with him…I respect him. “No one deserves to be inducted into the hall of fame more than him,” he said.
Reigns joked then that Heyman was a “performance enhancer”, and that “Paul is a PED.”
“He knows what’s it like to be in the marquee.” He’s been around (the industry) and in it all his life, it seems,” Heyman said later.
McAfee told a story of how he was preparing a promo for Austin Theory backstage and was trying figure out what to do. He said Heyman came up to him and gave him a few phrases, which he used. McAfee told Heyman that he wanted to publicly thank him for his help, but Heyman said he could wait until another day.
The rest of the interview consisted mainly of kayfabe, with a few highlights.
- Reigns said what John Cena did was “GOAT-level” generationally, but that he values quality over quantity when it comes to title reigns and their impact.
- He said that it is understandable why fans want to watch The Rock vs. Reigns. One of them dominates Hollywood, while the other dominates WWE.
“I will always choose the quality of this rule over 14,15,16 every day of the weekend,” he said.
“That was the endgame. Let me make a final statement. Seal the deal and stamp your approval. If I beat The Rock no one will ever question what I have done. Cody Rhodes took that away from me. He took the storybook ending.”
Reigns and Rhodes will face off on Friday’s SmackDown, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The build-up to WrestleMania continues.
