Hardy is still negotiating with AEW to figure out the details.

Matt Hardy, AEW wrestler and host of the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy Podcast, explained on his podcast why he attended WWE Raw this past week.

Hardy and Reby were in the skybox at this Monday’s Raw from the PNC Arena, in their home state of North Carolina. Reby posted a TikTok of Matt taking pictures with fans at the show.

Hardy stated on his podcast that Raw was a place he spent about 80 to 90 minutes. Reby and Hardy were on a date when one of Reby’s friends invited them over to their Raw suite. Hardy didn’t initially want to go but Reby told him that the skybox would not be open. Hardy was able to be recognized by fans because the suite was “pretty opened” at the front.

Hardy said, at the end, that his attendance at the show was “an innocent thing.”

We had a date without the kids. It was just my wife and I. This is something we try to do at least once a week, if not twice. We were eating in Raleigh. It was a wonderful dinner. She was contacted by a friend that she works with in Raleigh. Raleigh is only a few miles away from the Hardy Compound. Everyone knows that. They always have a suite at the PNC, the arena in Raleigh. They invited Reby to the deal and said, “Hey, do you want to hang out?” There’s food for free, there’s that, whatever. We’d love to see you.

Reby said, “Oh, we should stop by there.” I’d love to see my friend. I said “Ugh, that’s not where I’d want to be.” She replied, “Well, they’re in the skybox so it’s closed off and all that. We wouldn’t get there until 8:45 or 9:00 p.m. So we went. Reby spent a few minutes with her friends. While I was there, it was quite open at the front of the skybox. Yes, I was recognized. People started to form a line for me to take photos and such. We left the area at around 10:30 p.m. I was there for about 80 to 90 minutes and took around 200 photos. Once word spread that I was at the event, it was crazy. At one point, there was a line. Security came and had to move them against the wall for me to take photos.

But anyway, I was there when my wife went out to hang out. It was an innocent thing. It was wild. It was a wild experience to be in the PNC Arena, where SummerSlam 2000 took place. It was also where the first TLC match took place. It was amazing to see WWE running again. It was great to watch wrestling as a spectator. I am a huge fan of pro wrestling. If I have the chance, I love to watch pro wrestling.

It’s really interesting. As soon as I began taking pictures, I thought, “Oh my God, this is going to blow out of – it’s going to go crazy.” It is what it’s. In reality, I am ok with it.

Michael Cole mentioned Matt and Jeff Hardy during the commentary of Raw when he listed previous brother-versus-brother matchups at WrestleMania. Jey and Jimmy Uso will face off at WrestleMania. Hardy claimed that Cole made the comment before he and Reby arrived at PNC Arena.

Hardy’s presence at Raw has gained more attention online, as his AEW contract expires this month (March). Hardy said on his podcast that he is in negotiations with AEW, and is still figuring out things regarding his contract. Hardy will make a decision based on whether he is happy and satisfied in his role at AEW.

It was because people knew my contract was coming up. You know, contract negotiations are in full swing. If you’re trying to get me on a contract, I think I’m the guy you want. When I work for your business, no one waves the flag more than I do. You can promote the company through social media or you can promote all the positives that the company has to offer. And I do love AEW. There are some things I’d like to change in my career and the things we do, but overall, I love AEW. It’s important for the pro-wrestling industry. AEW must succeed because the pro-wrestling industry does not need a single giant company to control everything. They need competition. Competition is what makes things better. Competition is necessary for all the young kids who are coming up. Yes, I do want AEW’s success and I also want AEW’s growth. But I want to be satisfied with what I do in AEW.

We’re still negotiating, figuring out things, and that’s where we are. Tony Khan takes great care of my needs. He has been an excellent boss. Tony Khan is an amazing human being. When it comes to me deciding what I will do next, I also have to make sure I am happy and comfortable with my work – in every capacity.

Hardy thinks that he and his brother Jeff, and The Hardys as a whole, have a lot of value because they are so recognizable. Hardy wants to be used as best he can and to get the most value out of this value.
