Adam Copeland challenges Cope Open for AEW title in todays Wrestling news
Copeland will defend the championship in the next episode.
Adam Copeland, the new TNT champion, wants to defend his title.
Copeland won TNT’s title by defeating Christian Cage during the main event of Dynamite on Wednesday in an “I Quit!” match. In a video posted after the show, Copeland stated that he is ready to move past Christian and take on new opponents. Copeland announced he will be challenging for the Cope Open title at AEW Collision, which takes place in London, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday, 30th March.
The 40-year-old story is over. It’s time for me to move on. It’s time to move on. It’s my turn to defend the TNT Championship. I want to be a champion that, if you feel you deserve a chance, then go for it. Right now, I am a bloody mess and I’m sore. But I have the TNT Championship.
So, I’ll tell you, Collision London is back. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome. Now, there’s also more at stake. There’s the TNT Championship. I’m not going to lose it any time soon. So I wish you good luck. London, I’ll see you soon.
The Cope Open began in January of this year, when Christian refused to face Copeland. Copeland fought against AEW’s young talent, Griff Garrison, Lee Moriarty and Dante Martin. He also faced NJPW legend Minoru Suzuka.
In his post-Dynamite post-interview, Copeland stated that he felt like this was his first title reign since 2011. Copeland was TNT Champion for a very short time last December. He won the title from Christian in Worlds End, but immediately lost it back.
The next episode of Collision to air is March 30. Due to NCAA March Madness, there’s no episode this Saturday.
