Bryan Danielson shared his thoughts about Will Ospreay in a recent Sports Illustrated interview.
Ospreay will face Danielson for the first ever time at AEW Dynasty in St. Louis on April 21. Danielson told Justin Barrasso, despite the match featuring two of the world’s best wrestlers, that it would not be the main event.
Danielson said
Will Ospreay and I won’t be the star attraction at Dynasty. This tells you the type of show that it will be. I’ve got a good idea of what is coming up and I think the people will be very excited.
Danielson has recently been wrestling against a number of opponents that seem to have been hand-picked on AEW Collision. Danielson wrestled Jun Akiyama and Yuji Nakata before his match against Eddie Kingston at Revolution. Danielson has already wrestled Shan Taylor and Katsuyori Schibata in preparation for AEW Dynasty.
Danielson continued.
I love what I do. It’s amazing to wrestle all these different opponents like [Shibata], Eddie Kingston and Shane Taylor.
Danielson, when asked about his opponent, said that Ospreay was the “best wrestler for modern wrestling fans” in the world.
He said:
(Ospreay) has always been dynamic. But now he is putting together a package of what an ideal professional wrestler should be. He is so in tune with what modern professional wrestlers want. Some people criticize him and I believe they are mostly older guard. I think that he is the best wrestler for modern wrestling fans.
I don’t think my view of professional wrestling is the best. I’m interested in what younger generations think about professional wrestling, and what inspires these young people. Will Ospreay represents the evolution of professional wrestlers.
Will Ospreay could do a Bryan Danielson fight if he wanted. I couldn’t do what Will Ospreay did in a match. I don’t believe anyone else can do what Will Ospreay does in a match. This makes me very excited for the match.
Ospreay will wrestle Konosuke Takashita at AEW Dynamite on the week before he faces Danielson in Dynasty, next month.
