The New Japan Cup semifinals are now set.
Both Yota Tsuji & EVIL advanced to the semifinals on Sunday. They will now play each other in the semi-finals, which are scheduled for Monday morning. The winner will then go on to the finals, which will take place on March 20. They will face the winner of Hirooki and SANADA.
House of Torture members started to interfere with the match between Tsuji and Ren Narita towards the end. Los Ingobernables de Japon rushed out to equalize the score and allowed Tsuji advance by rolling Narita. HoT jumped Tsuji but Shingo Takagi intervened, kicking off the main match between Takagi and EVIL. HoT interfered in the match much like it did before, until EVIL used the Everything is Evil to win.
The New Japan Cup winner usually competes for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title. SANADA won the New Japan Cup last year and then defeated Kazuchika Okada at Sakura Genesis the following month to win the title.
