Ren Narita (left) and Yota Tuji (right) secured their places in the quarterfinals by winning at NJPW event in Osaka, Japan on Friday. Narita defeated Zack Sabre Jr. in the main event of this show after House of Torture interfered. Tsuji won over El Phantasmo to advance.

Saturday, March 16 —
- SANADA vs. Jack Perry
- Hirooki Goto vs. David Finlay
Sunday, March 17 —
- Shingo Takagi vs. EVIL
- Ren Narita vs. Yota Tsuji
The finals will be held on Wednesday, March 20.
The New Japan Cup champion will face Tetsuya naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in the main Sakura Genesis event. Naito holds the title after winning it from SANADA in Wrestle Kingdom 18, this January.
Sakura Genesis will take place at Sumo hall in Tokyo on April 6, 2019.
