Tony Khan on AEW Big Business : ‘I won’t disappoint the fans.’ in todays Wrestling news
Khan spoke to TV Insider before tonight’s Boston show.
Tony Khan has no intention of disappointing his fans tonight.
The AEW president spoke with TV Insider before AEW’s Big Business at Boston TD Garden. Khan was asked about the possibility that Mercedes Mone would debut on the show. He replied:
Yes, of course. I promise that I will not disappoint my fans tonight. Tonight’s show is the biggest yet. There have been a lot of big names.
Khan continued:
When we launched AEW it was the first new challenger promotion in many years to bring together so many resources, and a roster of wrestlers that was so strong. After five years, AEW has grown stronger than ever. Our roster is getting deeper and better. It has become a destination that stars are seeking out. It is the perfect moment to expand and grow. This is the theme of tonight’s event. AEW big business. We’ve come a long way since the beginning of 2019 with AEW.
We have what I consider to be the best roster of pro wrestlers in today’s market. We are always looking for new talent to strengthen the group. I think we’ll continue to add skills whenever we can to make AEW even better. I think the spirit of AEW is based on constant innovation and a desire to improve. I think that tonight’s Big Business on TBS will demonstrate this innovation and fighting spirit.
Khan was also asked to comment on Kevin Kelly’s employment status at the company. Kelly was recently removed from the roster, did not appear in last week’s episode Collision and PW Torch reported that he had been fired.
Khan answered the question.
I would prefer not to comment, but I do appreciate your question.
Khan also addressed criticism Darby Allin received for his glass-shattering scene at Revolution. He said that Allin has a way of pulling off such spots in a safe manner.
Khan said:
It must be safe. When a wrestler wants to try something dangerous, I want to make sure that it is done safely. Darby Allin has always had a plan and a reason for every wild highsport he’s ever thought up. Darby does not take these things lightly.
Darby’s career would not have been as successful if he hadn’t been a methodical and organized planner. Darby is a fanatic about finding a solution to the impossible. He does these incredible, seemingly life-defying stunts. He always finds a way to do them safely. He always has an explanation for how he can do it. Darby’s ability to plan his matches and make his biggest moves is what I find impressive.
