Kevin Kelly terminated by AEW in todays Wrestling news
Kelly was removed Thursday from AEW roster page.
Kevin Kelly, according to reports, is no longer a member of the AEW broadcasting team.
PWTorch reports Kelly has been terminated by AEW. Kelly has been an announcer on AEW Collision ever since the show debuted in June 2023. Kelly, who was initially Collision’s play-by-play lead voice, was replaced by Tony Schiavone in this role last October. It was a three-man booth, with Schiavone and Kelly.
Kelly was removed Thursday, March 7, from the roster page of AEW’s site. Dave Meltzer received a message that the situation was internal.
Kelly did not attend the Thursday night AEW collision taping.
Kelly tweeted last weekend that he was benched from AEW because ROH announcer Ian Riccaboni “libeled” him. Riccaboni posted on a Discord Server in August of last year that Kelly was promoting “QAnon Movies” (referring to Kelly’s public support of Sound of Freedom). Riccaboni acknowledged that he made the Discord posts, but claimed he did not know how Discord operated. Riccaboni admitted that he made the Discord posts, but said he didn’t know how Discord worked.
“But the idea of my contribution to the table was lost because Ian libeled [me]. Kelly tweeted on 2 March that “I sit on the bench and am valued by my peers while I wait for my number to be called.” “I keep asking the why, but I get pushed aside. It’s okay because I am the best. “Ask the people who know, and they will tell you.”
Kelly wrote another tweet saying, “It’s affected my standing in the industry and I need corrective action.”
Kelly has done commentary in the past for NJPW ROH and WWE.
