Mone was recently featured on The Kick Rocks Podcast.

Mercedes Mone discussed a wide range of topics in a recent podcast.

The Kick Rocks podcast published a video interview with the 32 year old on Thursday. She discussed topics like Bayley winning the Royal Rumble and her decision to leave WWE.

On Bayley winning the Royal Rumble

She’s going love it that I’m putting over. Usually I’m the person who’s put over, because I always beat her. But I’m nothing but proud and so happy for my friend.

I get to watch her from afar and see her hard work and her dreams, her hopes, and what she wants in that business. And to see it all come together and to witness the magic that woman can create…

She has done so much for this division, and I am just beyond proud that she will be the main event at WrestleMania, because that is how it should go. I am beyond happy for her. She has had a crazy three years, from the pandemic to getting injured and seeing her go through it, making her return and making her return with IYO Sky, Dakota Kai and Dakota Kai.

She is so selfless and caring that I love to cheer her on and cannot wait to see her go.

She also spoke on the current state of women’s wrestling.

This is the most women have ever participated in this business. It’s hard to describe how I feel when I see how many females are in pro wrestling schools and how many are in different promotions, from independent to Stardom, TNA, AEW, WWE. I joined WWE when there were eight women in development. I don’t know how many women there are. There are probably 30. Then you have AEW with their insane roster and then Stardom.

It’s beyond all my dreams. It’s beyond my wildest dreams because I’ve watched wrestling since I’ve been a child and I’ve always wondered, “How can I do it like the men?” I found out about Japanese pro-wrestling, and I thought, ‘Oh wow! They do it like men and harder.’ I wanted that in America, and I always said that I wanted to change what a Diva is.

When asked if the word “Diva” was a dirty term for her, Mone replied:

Then, I couldn’t watch it with my mom or my grandmother because they would make fun of it. I’d be like, “Yeah, Grandma, I want to do that.”

Those were the days. We were not treated equally, the same or with the same respect.

Mone said that she was told by her doctor that her “career had ended.”

It’s been crazy for almost 10 months from a freak injury…or did Willow push you? Or did someone pay that ref off and make the toprope slippery? I don’t really know, but I’ve been thinking about my unfinished business in wrestling for the past 10 months.

I was going so fast, I didn’t even slow down. I had a lot to deal with, I was hurt and healing was needed. Because I loved wrestling so much, I couldn’t leave it. But I wasn’t fully healed. I think it was a message saying ‘you need to slow down, figure out what you’re going to do next and what your plans are. Your plans are good, but I think you should reevaluate them more.

Mone said that she will be releasing more music this year, and has a few acting roles coming up. She teased that “finally, she has found her wrestling home”.

Mone said

I’ve made some big moves. Big money moves and big business moves.

During my time of healing I was able to work on many other projects that I am passionate about. I think my fans will be very excited to hear that I’m finally releasing music this year. I’m still doing acting, and I have some amazing projects in the works. I also got to audition for amazing roles in movies. We need to keep manifesting good things in that area.

I think I’ve finally found my place in a wrestling organization. It’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to these big money moves.

Later, she would say:

I’m almost certain that I have made my final decision. I expect it to be very soon.

I’ve posted my training videos. I’ve trained really, really hard with Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears at Flatbacks. A shout out to the Hybrid School with Funaki in San Antonio and the New Japan Dojo, both in LA. I’ve worked so hard to return to this place I love, because I was told this injury would end my career. I screamed and yelled at my surgeon and doctor, ‘no it’s not’.

I know, I feel, and I see that I will be back very soon, and have the best time, the best matches, and the most successful career I’ve ever had. Soon.
