Ilja Dragunov has a new challenger for Stand & Deliver.
Tony D’Angelo beat Carmelo Hayes on Tuesday at NXT Roadblock to become the number one contender. D’Angelo’s win means he will face the NXT champion at Stand & Deliver, on April 6, after he has been crowned the new number one contender.
Hayes was distracted by Trick Williams music at the end of the match. D’Angelo won the match with his fisherman’s supplex. D’Angelo revealed he was behind the music but introduced Williams who then came out of the crowd to attack Hayes and the security team.
D’Angelo appeared in the ring during last week’s NXT. Hayes and Dragunov had just signed for a match when D’Angelo entered. He said he spoke to NXT’s General Manager Ava and that the contract would now be him taking on Hayes, where the winner would then face Dragunov in Stand & Deliver.
Williams has not been on TV since NXT Vengeance Day, last month. Hayes blindsided him, clipped his leg, and repeatedly attacked Williams using a steel chair. Hayes would reveal later that he had been the one who attacked Hayes last fall.
