Mysterio was out of action after a November surgery on his knee.
Rey Mysterio has returned to action nearly four months after undergoing knee surgery.
Mysterio returned to WWE programming in the episode of SmackDown that aired on Friday night. Mysterio, who had been feuding with Santos Escobar again, helped Carlito beat Escobar in the street fight.
Mysterio stepped in to help after Legado del Fantasma’s Angel and Humberto entered the match. Legado del Fantasma fought back against Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro and Angel.
Mysterio then made it to the stage using crutches. Mysterio, who initially pretended he was not cleared to compete on crutches, used them as a weapon against Angel & Humberto.
Carlito spit a piece of apple into Escobar’s mouth after a fight between Mysterio & Escobar. Wilde and Del Toro defeated Angel and Humberto. Mysterio gave Escobar the 619 and Carlito put Escobar under a table for victory.
After the match, the LWO (Carlito Mysterio, Wilde Del Toro and Zelina Vea) celebrated together.
Mysterio had surgery in November last year for a torn lateral meniscus. Mysterio was working with a torn meniscus for months before he had surgery. His return was expected to take 6-8 weeks following surgery. Dave Meltzer said on February 16th that Mysterio would be returning in a few short weeks.
In the storyline, Mysterio was injured by Escobar. Escobar attacked Mysterio and LWO in the episode of SmackDown aired on November 10.
