The Rainmaker won his final match as an NJPW full-time roster member in a pinfall at Saturday’s The New Beginning In Sapporo, defeating United Empire’s Callum Newman with a 10-man Tag in his swansong.
Okada landed his signature offense, including his trademark dropkick and a landslide. He finished the fight with his Rainmaker lariat.
Okada won his final four NJPW matches, including a NEVER Openweight Six Man title defense, where he immediately vacated the championship, a win in singles over Hiroshi Tanahata, and wins in multi-man tag on both nights of The New Beginning this weekend in Sapporo.
Tanahashi was originally slated to partner with Okada for his final, but an ankle problem forced him off the card on Saturday and Yano replaced him.
Okada announced that he would be leaving NJPW at the end January, when his contract expired. He agreed to three dates in February to complete the promotion.
