John Cena has revealed his relationship with Vince McMahon.
Cena was a guest on the Howard Stern Show Wednesday. He was asked to comment on the allegations against McMahon, and his relationship with him.
Cena replied:
I can say that I am a strong advocate of love, friendship, honesty and communication. In the same breath, however, I am also a strong advocate of accountability.
I think you (Stern), explained it well. If someone’s behavior is so far outside of your value system, that the balance shifts and you feel like, “I can’t function in a world that works this way,” that’s what accountability means.
Stern asked Cena what he planned to do about the situation. Cena replied:
Now, I’m going love the person I love and be their friend. By that, it means, ‘Hey I love you, but you have a mountain to climb.
You don’t really know who your friends until you’re in a bad situation or have your back against the wall. It doesn’t make anything easier to accept, but telling someone, “Hey, I love your.” is a good start. This is going to be a tough hill to climb. We’re just going to wait and see what happens.
It sounds so cliche, but you have to take it one day at a tme. I have said that I love him, and that I have a good relationship with him.
Cena is not the first WWE wrestler to comment on the allegations made against McMahon. Randy Orton was interviewed by Sports Illustrated recently and asked about the allegations.
Orton said that:
“I have to say that I wouldn’t be here without Vince McMahon having taken a few chances on me,” said Orton. “I wouldn’t be where I am without Vince McMahon. But, f —, i’m reading that sh-t. I’ve read and seen what you’ve read and seen. It hurts my heart to comment on that. It hurts my soul.”
Bret Hart spoke recently to Slate Magazine regarding McMahon and Janel Grant’s lawsuit.
Hart said, “I’ve always respected him.” “Now it’s tainted. I’m ashamed that I thought such high of him.”
