TNA Wrestling exercises contract option for Josh Alexander in todays Wrestling news
Alexander’s contract with the company was extended by an additional year.
Josh Alexander is not leaving TNA Wrestling any time soon.
The company announced that it had exercised its right to extend his contract on Tuesday. Sports Illustrated reports that although the terms and length of the contract were not disclosed, the deal now “runs the next year.”
The contract extension comes at a time of turmoil in the company. Scott D’Amore, the former TNA president, was released from his position earlier this month. TNA talent and staff sent a letter to Anthem CEO Leonard Asper to support D’Amore.
Alexander told Sports Illustrated, “I have a lot of respect for Scott.” “After working with him for the last five-years and seeing how he operates, I can say that he is a true leader. I’ve tried incorporating some of his advice into the way I give people advice. My goal is to set an example. We have a locker-room of like-minded individuals and we all have an attitude chip on our shoulders. “Those shows [Hard To Kill] and Snake Eyes] in Vegas were so successful. It’s hard to say that we can be more successful than Scott was, but I will try my hardest.”
Alexander said that he hoped TNA Wrestling would “continue to be an incredible place” under new management.
“I’ve worked hard to get here.” By the end of my contract, I will have been with TNA six years. We’ll have to see how the year unfolds. Things will change with the new management. I hope it remains an amazing place. “Right now, I can’t imagine working somewhere else.”
Fightful Select reported recently that Steve Maclin, the former Impact World Champion’s contract with this promotion expires in 2018. After this report, several TNA members posted “hourglass” emoticons on social media.
Josh Alexander is one the most popular wrestlers of TNA Wrestling’s history. Anthony Cicione, the new TNA Wrestling President, said: “We’re thrilled that Josh Alexander’s run in TNA is going to continue.”
TNA No Surrender 2024 takes place on Friday at the Alario Center in Louisiana. Alexander is scheduled to wrestle Simon Gotch on the show.
