Billy Jack Haynes is arrested and expected to be charged for his wife’s murder in todays Wrestling news
The former WWF and Portland Wrestling superstar was arrested on Thursday.
After a multi-hour standoff on Thursday morning, it was confirmed that Billy Jack Haynes, a former WWE wrestler from Portland, Oregon was the suspect arrested in the fatal shooting Janette Becraft.
Early reports referred to Haynes as “a former wrestler” and he was 70 years old.
Haynes was described as being uncooperative in the same reports, which led to a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding areas at 6000 SE 100th Avenue Portland. Police were called at the residence around 10 AM local time after reports of gunfire.
Haynes (Willam A. Haynes) was finally taken into police custody at a local hospital, where he is still being treated today for a medical condition unrelated to the one he is currently treating.
“Once he’s released from the hospital (which could be days away), he will be booked into jail.” Haynes’ charges are expected to be released after he is booked, according to a Portland police statement.
The local medical examiner confirmed that the cause of death of 85-year old Becraft was homicide.
Becraft was Haynes second wife.
He became a regional star in the Pacific Northwest in the early 1980s. He then moved to the WWF, where he worked in the mid-card from 1986-1988. He worked in the WCW for a short time as Black Blood, and various independents before retiring.
Haynes hasn’t fought since 1995. He was involved in the concussion suit that was eventually dismissed nearly a decade earlier.
