Sting & Darby Allen are the new AEW Tag Team Champions.
The two beat Big Bill & Ricky Starks on Wednesday to win the titles, continuing Sting’s undefeated run and their own undefeated record as a tag-team. Allin was able to put Bill and himself through a table. Starks was able to escape the scorpion-deathlock in the ring. Sting then used the scorpion-death drop for the victory.
As Sting & Allin celebrated, The Young Bucks entered the ring suddenly and attacked them both with baseball bats. Since their return to the company, in January, they had expressed an interest in taking on Sting & Allin. They now go by their given names Nicholas & Matthew. After bloodying both of them, they briefly held onto the tag titles and then dropped them on top the new champions.
Bill & Starks held the titles for 123 consecutive days, defeating FTR in the October 7 edition Collision. Allin asked Sting on the Dynamite episode of January 24, if they wished to challenge for the Tag Team title. Sting agreed and the champions accepted their challenge later backstage.
