CM Punk: WWE locker rooms are ‘everything that the business should be’ in todays Wrestling news
Punk discussed his triceps injuries in a Royal Rumble Week vlog.
CM Punk understands that his torn triceps are just a minor setback.
Punk sustained the injury at last weekend’s Royal Rumble. He will miss WrestleMania 40 as a result. WWE planned to have Punk challenge Seth Rollins at WrestleMania for the World Heavyweight Championship. Punk is likely to be out of action after surgery for several months.
WWE posted a behind-the scenes vlog of Punk’s Royal Rumble Week on Friday. Punk ended the vlog by reflecting on his triceps injuries:
It hasn’t exactly been a good 48 hours. But I try to see things from different angles. My perspective is that this is a drag. I tore my tricep. Just returned to the company in November. First match back on television, I get injured. Surgery on Thursday. But in the big picture, it’s just a bump on the road. I’ve been in this situation before. My heart hurts. The connection is made by telling the fans, being upfront, and speaking with such an emotional point of view. I really do think this is a bad idea. It’s a f*cking shame. Is it the end of world? No.
Punk spoke of his friend Chad Gilbert, who is battling cancer. Gilbert is also undergoing chemotherapy. Gilbert’s situation is one that is extremely difficult, according to Punk. Punk is a mere athlete who got injured:
I’m an injured athlete. Big f*cking deal. I’ll deal it, I will move on, and I’ll be back stronger, bigger, better. We’ll get right back to work.
Punk said that he is saddened by the injury, because it will temporarily remove him from the “amazing” situation he is in. Punk praised WWE locker room and called it everything that the pro wrestling business should be.
I’m very careful when I say things like, “Where you work is your home.” I believe that your family is also your job and your place of work is your home. It’s been an amazing support system. You know, I just get certain looks from people and then I start to cry again. Cody is one of them. He’s an awesome guy. This locker room is exactly what the business should be. This is everything I was told the business would be. It’s amazing, and that’s the reason I’m sad. I’m not sorry I hurt my arm. I’m just sad that I’m temporarily out from this amazing situation.
Punk apologized to his wife AJ Mendez for putting her through another situation in which he is recovering from surgery. Mendez said that they have been through it before and will do everything to help him recover.
The men’s Royal Rumble match on Saturday was a battle between Punk and Cody Rhodes, before Rhodes eliminated Punk. Punk announced on Raw that he would miss WrestleMania due to his triceps injuries. Drew McIntyre then confronted Punk, and attacked his triceps. Punk said he still wants to main event WrestleMania, but he will first go after McIntyre when he returns.
