Dustin Rhodes on WWE WrestleMania 40’s main event: “This is Cody’s time” in todays Wrestling news
Rhodes spoke to Sports Illustrated before his TNT title fight against Dynamite.
Dustin Rhodes said he would be “pissed”, if Cody Rhodes was not in the main match of WrestleMania.
The 54-year old spoke to Sports Illustrated before his TNT title fight against Christian Cage tonight on Dynamite. During the interview Rhodes talked about his thoughts on The Rock wrestling Roman Reigns rather than his brother.
“I hope Cody is in the main event against Roman,” said Rhodes. “Or The Rock will be there. If it’s The Rock, then I’m pissed. This is Cody’s moment. He’s becoming the face of the business, and it is paying off.
But I get it. It’s still a good business if it is The Rock. I know that many people love to see The Rock. But I still believe it’s Cody’s moment.”
Rhodes also spoke about his struggles with substance abuse. He said that he was able to continue with his career because he got sober.
“My sobriety is my legacy,” said Rhodes. “I know it’s okay to have bad days. There will be more good days. The life has been a great teacher. I’ve learned so much and I plan to be clean and sober the rest of my lifetime.
“I didn’t see clearly back then, and I paid a heavy price for it.” I still try to prove myself even when I don’t need to. I made it through. The devil still sits here, right on top of my shoulder. All I have to do is walk alongside him. Each day I tell him “No, I am going to be good today.” So I don’t drink. I won’t do drugs. I’m ready to move on with my life.
“It was a long journey, but I have regained so much of what i lost. It’s why I have a career. It’s because I’m clean that I’m still here. “I can still entertain because I’m clean.”
On Saturday, Rhodes defeated Willie Mack in AEW Collision. It was his first win in singles since beating Bishop Kaun at the May 17, 2023 AEW Rampage.
