Rey Mysterio, WWE Hall of Famer, hopes to be back on the ring for the Royal Rumble.
Mysterio is out of action after undergoing knee surgery last November. Mysterio had surgery for a torn lateral meniscus. He was expected to miss 6-8 weeks of action.
Mysterio stated that he hopes to return to the Royal Rumble, or shortly thereafter. The Royal Rumble will take place on Saturday, January 27, from Tropicana field in St. Petersburg.
Mysterio said, “I’m really working hard at my physical therapy.” “I had knee surgery thanks to Santos Escobar. His time will come.” I hope to be back for the Rumble if not soon after. “But I am working hard to return as soon as I can.”
In the storyline, Mysterio was blamed for his knee injury by Escobar. Both were former stablemates of the LWO. Escobar turned on Mysterio in the November 10 SmackDown episode.
Mysterio was working with a knee injury for several months before he had surgery.
Mysterio revealed that he was on week four of a six to eight week recovery period when he appeared last month on the Christmas Party episode with Konnan and Disco Inferno of K100.
Mysterio was WWE United States Champion until he lost the title to Logan Paul in Crown Jewel, November.
