Takami Ohbari shared a statement after his resignation.
Takami Ohbari, the NJPW president who is leaving his position, has posted a message about his departure.
NJPW announced on Friday night that Hiroshi Takanahashi was the new president and representative director of the promotion. Ohbari left his roles on December 23.
Tanahashi is a former IWGP Heavyweight champion and one of NJPW’s greatest wrestlers. He currently holds the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team title with Kazuchika OKada & TomohiroIshii.
On December 26, a press conference will be held to discuss the management changes at NJPW. Hitoshi Matsumoto, Chief of Business Production at TV Asahi, and Taro Okada, President & CEO of Bushiroad Fight, have been appointed directors of NJPW. Taro Okada is only employed part-time. Taro Okada, Stardom’s representative director and president, is Taro Okada.
Michiaki Nishizawa resigned as director.
Ohbari posted a message on social media following his resignation. Ohbari said that there is no doubt Tanahashi, as president, will create the best NJPW to date.

Today, I resigned as president of NJPW, NJPW of America and, as you may know, our ace Tanahashi-san has just taken over my roles.
There is no doubt in his mind that he can create the best NJPW. He has fan, wrestler, and management perspectives.
I spent five years in the NJPW and three years and two month as its president. My management began in the depths of COVID-19, when cheering and attendance were severely restricted by the government. People outside of Japan may not be able imagine the despairing atmosphere.
As our traditional business model quickly collapsed, I first focused on COVID-19 prevention and cost reductions. To adapt to the changing external environment, I focused all my efforts on modifying the old system, creating new businesses, and accelerating globalization. Most of the time, I felt ‘pains of birth’.
When I visited the venues in Japan or overseas, I received huge encouragement from fans like you and wrestlers. This motivated me to do my very best again. This cycle, which could be called “STRONG STYLE”, helped us recover our business and bring it to a level that is almost a record high.
Tanahashi-san only has to easily surpass NJPW’s record to make a brighter future. I know that everything is ready.
Even though I am leaving NJPW and Bushiroad very soon, I want to thank everyone who attended the press conference held on December 26.
