Takami Ohbari, President of Japan, will step down on December 23.
Hiroshi Takanahashi is the New President of NJPW.
An announcement was made on the website of New Japan Pro Wrestling Friday evening. The eight-time IWGP Heavyweight champion has been named the new President and Representative Director. This appointment was made following a NJPW board of directors meeting and shareholder’s meeting.
Tanahashi will discuss his new role in the company at Wrestle King 18 on January 4. NJPW fans received the following message from the company:
Thank you for your continued support of New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Hiroshi Takahashi will be addressing the fans in his new role of President at Belc Presents WWE Kingdom 18 in the Tokyo Dome on January 4. NJPW is looking forward to your continued support as the new leadership structure.
Takami Ohbari will step down as President and representative director of NJPW on December 23. Michiaki Nishizawa will also step down from his position on December 23.
Along with Tanahashi, Hitoshi Okada and Taro Matsumoto were named directors of the company. Taro Okada is the President & CEO of Bushiroad Fight. Okada is a part-time Director.
A press conference addressing the new changes is scheduled for December 26th at 1pm JST.
