Jim Ross reports that AEW’s senior producer/coach Dean Malenko underwent successful brain surgery.
Ross revealed on this week’s Grilling JR Podcast that he had seen Malenko at the Wednesday Dynamite and Rampage tape in Oklahoma City and that Malenko underwent surgery to treat the symptoms of his Parkinson’s Disease.
Ross said:
I saw Dean Malenko. Malenko had some health problems. I saw him. He had brain surgery, and it stopped his shaking from Parkinson’s. He’s a wonderful guy.
Malenko has been working as a producer for AEW in 2019 after having held a similar role with WWE between 2001 and 2019 following his in-ring career.
Ross went on to discuss Malenko’s role in AEW, and how he helps the talent build their matches within what their segments require.
He is one of the unsung heroes at AEW, thanks to his coaching and guidance. He encourages talent to bring to him what they wish to do… then he helps, he contributes. It’s teaching. All of that is coaching. He’s very, very good at it.
Ross also discussed his return as the commentator on Dynamite when calling the main event for Wednesday’s show during this week’s Grilling JR.
