Bryan Danielson was “desperate” to see Kenny Omega at AEW’s Continental Classic.
The round-robin tourney began on AEW Dynamite a couple of weeks ago, and it features 12 participants split into two leagues. Omega, despite his success in NJPW G1 Climax and the tournament’s similar format, is not part of this round-robin tournament.
The Daily Mail asked Danielson why Omega was not in the Continental Classic. Danielson said that he wanted Omega to be in the tournament. Danielson does not know why Omega isn’t participating in the tournament, even though he brought it up to Omega. Danielson speculated, that Omega & Chris Jericho were the top contenders for the AEW Tag Team Titles, so Omega could have been left off of the Continental Classic to avoid confusion.
Danielson said
I wanted Kenny Omega to be in it, but I didn’t know. People think I do more than I actually do.
I don’t understand what happened or why Kenny Omega isn’t in the tournament. I know it was brought up at least to him, and I don’t even know if he wanted to do it. I also know that he is the number one contender for the tag-team championship with Chris Jericho. So maybe that’s the reason, you know.

Danielson is a member of the Blue League at the Continental Classic. He will face Daniel Garcia on Rampage this evening and Andrade ElIdolo in Collision on Saturday. Both of those matches are tournaments.
Brody King is currently the leader of the Blue League. Gold League leaders Swerve Strickland and Jon Moxley are tied.
The winner of the Continental Classic becomes a Triple Crown Champion. They will hold the ROH World Championship and NJPW Strong Openweight Championship in addition to the new AEW Continental Championship. The finals will take place at AEW Worlds End on Saturday, December 30, during the pay-per view.
