Seth Rollins recently revealed his animosity towards CM Punk.
Rollins told Jimmy Traina, on the SI Media podcast, that Punk’s view of the industry was “extremely self-serving,” and that Punk “played a martyr role to the letter.”
Rollins said about his issues with Punk.
Most of it is personal and I don’t want to go into it, but I think he has been selfish in his view of the industry. I think he has been very self-serving and has played the martyr to a T.
Look, there are many good things I can say about my relationship with him. He helped me when he did not have to. Whether it was for his benefit or not, I’m not sure, but it helped me get to where I needed and do the things that I needed.
He was a selfish person who wanted to take even more from the business.
Rollins has continued to talk down to Punk and WWE for years.
He said some very bad things about me. He talked down to me and the company for many years. I’m saying some really bad things, called me a bootlicker or crap like that. You don’t even know who I am.
I’m a loyal individual and I felt insulted at the way he treated me, the company that I work for, and the friends that I worked alongside. I won’t go into the Colt Cabana stuff. You can find that kind of material online.
Just the way he dealt with people. The way he treated people made me feel like he only cared about himself. He also talked down to me, my friends, and the people in WWE who work hard every day to make the company the best it can be. We love the industry and not just for what it can give us. We love it and want to give it back. We want to make it as good as it can be. I’ve always felt that he was a liar in this sense, or he became one at some point during the last decade.
This is the short of it. It’s a deep-seated animosity, not hatred. There is animosity, there’s no doubt.
During the conversation Rollins claimed that he wasn’t informed about Punk’s return to WWE prior to Cult of Personality hitting at Survivor Series. He said that his reactions at ringside, and then later in the back, were genuine. Dave Meltzer, however, reported that Rollins knew Punk was going to come out at the very end of the show. His reaction to this was part of an angle.
