TNA wanted to induct AJ Styles this year into its Hall of Fame.
Bob Ryder and Rhino, as well as Styles and Monty Brown were inducted on Saturday before Bound for glory. However, according to an article from Fightful Select other names were also considered, including Styles.
TNA reportedly approached WWE to ask about inducting Styles to the TNA Hall of Fame for this year. WWE declined the opportunity. Sources within TNA believe that although no specific reason was given by WWE, the rejection of the idea could be related to Styles current injury or future plans.
Styles hasn’t wrestled in 2024 since he suffered a midfoot ligament sprain during a match with Carmelo Hayes at the October 4, 2020, edition of WWE SmackDown. It was his first WWE match since losing to WWE champion Cody Rhodes at Clash at the Castle, in June, in an “I Quit!” match.
Styles, a cornerstone in TNA’s past, spent 12 years with the company, becoming one of their most decorated champions. He held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the company’s highest title, three times between 2002 and 2014. Styles has also won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship two times.
