A deal between Max and AEW may not be limited to pay-per view.
Andrew Zarian reported over the weekend that pay-per view AEW matches will be available via the WBD streaming service by January 2025 or possibly even sooner. During a recent WFAN interview, the AEW President said that the relationship between Max and AEW could be more than just a pay-per-view.
“After the merger, AEW was really successful. We’re one of the (WBD) companies that have really gotten behind, built and grown with. It’s great for us, because streaming has a lot of potential as cable has changed,” Khan said.
Khan replied that not only pay-per view events could end up on Max.
“I think the plan is to do a lot with Max, and that could include a variety things.” We have the shows available on TBS and TNT, and they are currently available, but I believe that everything is on the table as far as Dynamite and Rampage.
“The pay-per views, yes, we’ve had some great conversations about streaming. We used to do it on Bleacher Report but they’re closing down Bleacher Report. “We’re now going to do our pay-per view on other apps.”
“You can watch the pay-per view elsewhere for now, but we’re working hard on some exciting announcements about where you can get them and what’s coming with Max, but I’ve already said it and I’ll repeat it, I am 100 percent sure that you will have AEW on TBS or TNT for a very long time.”
John Ourand, of Puck Sports, stated last week that a media rights agreement between AEW & WBD could be announced this week.
