In a match that was set in motion a few weeks ago, FTW champion Hook will defend his title ceremonial against Roderick at this month’s AEW grand Slam in Queens, New York.
Hook’s challenge from Wednesday’s Dynamite was confirmed at Saturday’s AEW Collision.
The first time things started to heat up between them was in an eight-man team match on August 28th Dynamite, when Hook pinned Strong with his foot under the ropes.
It’s not clear at this time if the fight will take place during the Dynamite segment of the show, or in the Collision portion that will be taped later.
Hook won the belt back at All In in August. This will be the title’s first defense.
Here’s the current lineup for Wednesday, September 25th:
- AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match
- Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin for Allin’s AEW World title shot
- AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) defend against Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher
- FTW Champion Hook defends against Roderick Strong
