Powerhouse Hobbs has made good progress with his injury recovery but is not yet ready to return.
Hobbs had surgery to repair his Patellar Tendon after suffering a significant injury in a match at AEW Dynamite in April. Tony Khan confirmed that he was backstage at Dynamite Milwaukee this week.
Khan responded that Hobbs had been to multiple AEW events, visiting doctors and receiving check-ups. AEW looks forward to Hobbs’ return, even though he needs “some time” for him to recover.
Khan said, “Will Hobbs is a doctor.” Will Hobbs has been out of work for several months. We hope to have him back soon. But I think he still needs some time for recovery. But Powerhouse Hobbs has been a big part of AEW. He’s a great champion in AEW. He’s one of the most popular actors. We are looking forward to Will Hobbs’ return. I can’t give you an exact date, but he is definitely someone we want to bring back into AEW soon. It’s been great to have Powerhouse Hobbs visit us backstage a few times in the last couple of months. This wasn’t our first encounter with him. It’s a good sign that he continues to come in for checkups and makes good progress.”
The injury occurred when Hobbs was playing against Jon Moxley in the Dynamite from Jacksonville episode of April 24. He injured his knee when he went for a splash in the corner.
Paul Wight recently praised Hobbs for being one of the nicest, most humble people that he has ever met. Hobbs, 33, is a former TNT Champion of AEW.
