Nikki Garcia (also known as Nikki Bella) is reportedly preparing to divorce Artem Chingvintsev.
TMZ reports Garcia has contacted divorce attorneys in the wake Chigvintsev’s arrest for domestic abuse last week.
The outlet reported that “sources with direct knowledge” told them Nikki had been calling since Friday and her intention was to file for divorce.
The report stated that Chigvintsev was currently staying with a family friend and not at the home he shares in the family with Garcia and their four-year-old Matteo.
Stephanie Hypes of Bodyslam noted that Garcia did not wear her wedding ring when she appeared on Netflix’s “Unfinished Beef”, a hot dog eating competition.
Chigvintsev, a Russian national, was arrested in Yountville on Thursday morning. Authorities responded to a call for help at 10 AM local time. He was booked for felony bodily injury to a spouse, cohabitant or partner. Garcia has not yet been confirmed as the victim. Chigvintsev was released after posting bail of $25,000
Chigvintsev, according to audio files obtained from TMZ called 911 to request medical assistance but later called back to cancel. He said that his wife threw shoes at him during the call.
After he cancelled, paramedics returned to the address. However, when police arrived at the house they “observed obvious wounds on the victim’s skin” which led to Chigvintsev being arrested.
Garcia’s team issued a statement via US Weekly on Friday. It said, “This is an individual matter and Nikki requests privacy for herself and her family during this time.”
