Hikaru Shida says she is “really pleased” that the number of women’s main events in AEW has increased.
Shida headlined AEW Collision on Saturday by defeating Queen Aminata in a four-way match of number one contenders. Shida’s victory confirmed that she will face Mercedes Mone at All Out on Saturday, September 7.
Shida revealed during a gaming stream yesterday that being the main event on an AEW TV show was her childhood dream. She is happy that women’s main event has become more common. Shida has headlined Dynamite Rampage and Collision more than once each.
Shida said, “I won the four way match and it announced the title game on AEW All Out tomorrow week.” “I’m also so happy that Collision made the women’s match the main event. It was my dream a few year ago to be the main event of a TV show. But now it’s just normal. I’m very happy about that.”
The AEW women’s division still has to achieve the milestone of main eventing a pay per view for the first time. Athena has headlined ROH PPVs with Willow Nightingale, and Billie Starkz.
Shida has won three AEW Women’s World Championships. She is aiming to win her TBS title by beating Mone.
