Mercedes Mone achieved one of her dreams as a pro wrestler at AEW All In 2020.
Mone, who had appeared in the Wembley Stadium audience at All In 2023 a year earlier, was in the ring to defend her TBS Championship, against Britt Baker, for this year’s show. Mone told WTOP News, Washington, D.C., that wrestling at Wembley Stadium was “amazing” and “a dream come true.”
“I’m still high from it,” Mone stated. “Last season, I was a fan at the show with a broken toe dreaming of which company I would be in. This year, performing at All In was a dream come through. It was amazing, and the crowd was electric. I can’t believe it. Next year, at All In in Dallas Texas, I will do it again. It’s been an exciting time for pro wrestling thanks to AEW – and I enjoy being the TBS face.”
The 31-year gap between the WWF SummerSlam of 1992 at London’s Wembley Stadium and AEW All In in 2023 was due to a break. AEW will bring the pay-per view back to Wembley, even though All In is in Texas next year.
Mone said that she had “a really good time” during her match with Baker, but that the crowd was a bit tired.
Mone, in addition to being the TBS Champion, is also the NJPW’s Strong Women’s champion. She will defend the latter belt tonight (30 August) against Stardom’s Momo watanabe.
