Bryan Danielson’s future is now a little clearer, after he declared on Wednesday’s Dynamite show that if he loses his title, he will end his full-time career in the ring.
He doesn’t plan to do so anytime soon.
Danielson ended the show with a promotional video in which he addressed his future. He said that last Sunday, when he beat Swerve Strickland to win the title, was his favorite moment in his career. He cited his family’s presence and the fact that he had finally won the title despite having failed several times in the past.
He also said that his family is ready to welcome him home. He said that AEW’s existence has improved his life and pro wrestling.
He revealed that he did not intend to retire as champion. Instead, he would be a fighting champ. However, he warned that if he lost the title, his career as a full time performer was over.
He said that until then, it was first come, first serve for anyone in his locker room who wanted to end his run and take the title. Jack Perry accepted the challenge, and it appears that the match will be held at next month’s All Out Pay-per-View in Chicago.
The 43-year-old Danielson, who has been a wrestler for over a decade, has long talked about his desire to have one last year as a full time wrestler. He revealed to Jim Ross recently in the run-up to All In he would likely undergo neck surgery before the end of this year.
