Athena, the ROH Women’s World Champion, will compete in the inaugural events of Scott D’Amore’s brand new promotion.
Athena will be appearing at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Forged In Excellence in October. The event will take place over two nights, on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20. The shows will be held at St. Clair College, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and will be broadcast live as pay per view on Triller TV.
Athena is the ROH Women’s World Champion since December 2022. She won against Queen Aminata at Death Before Dishonor last month.
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling is yet to announce Athena’s opponent for Forged in Excellence. Kylie Rae, Gisele Shaw and other wrestlers are also expected to compete at the shows.
The first match announced for the event is Konosuke takeshita vs. Josh Alexander. QT Marshall, El Phantasmo (Jinder Mahal), Raj Dhesi, KUSHIDA Alex Zayne Kevin Knight Jake Something and Trevor Lee have also been advertised.
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling revives the Maple Leaf Wrestling name that existed between the 1930s and 1980s. D’Amore is embarking on a new endeavor after being fired as president of TNA Wrestling in February.
