Former WWF and WCW World Champion Sid Vicious, real name Sid Eudy, has died at the age of 63.
Gunnar Eudy announced his death on Monday. He revealed that Sid had battled cancer for many years. Gunnar expressed his gratitude to everyone on behalf of the family for their prayers, thoughts, and support.
“I am deeply sorry to inform you that my father Sid Eudy has passed away. He fought cancer for many years. Gunnar wrote that he will miss his strength, kindness and love.
“We are grateful for your prayers and thoughts as we mourn this loss. Details of a memorial service are to be announced soon. “Thank you for your support.”
Sid was born in Arkansas and entered pro wrestling in 1987. He quickly became one of the most iconic big-men wrestlers in his era. He was a main event wrestler in WCW and WWF. He also joined the Four Horsemen at an early stage of his career. He headlined WrestleMania both in 1992 and 1997. He faced Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker respectively at WrestleMania 8 and 13.
Sid was two-times a World Champion, both in WWF and WCW.
Sid’s last televised bout was a squashing of Heath Slater in Raw in 2012, when he returned to WWE for 15 years. The match took place in the build-up to Raw’s 1,000th episode, on which Sid also appeared.
Sid said in an interview last month with the AttitudeEra podcast that he believed a WWE Hall of Fame Induction was more likely now that Vince McMahon has left the company. Sid stated that he was under the Legends contract of WWE.
