Tony Khan addresses Ronda Roussey’s AEW/ROH Status in todays Show_Type news
Rousey made a debut at ROH on Friday night.
Tony Khan answered questions about Ronda Roussy at the AEW full gear media scrum on Sunday.
Rousey wrestled a match that was not advertised at the ROH tape from the KIA Forum last Friday night. She wrestled with her longtime training partner and friend, Marina Shafir, at the ROH taping from the KIA Forum on Friday night.
Khan, when asked about Rousey and her status with his company said that she is not signed but would love to bring her back at any time.
“She’s signed but we had an amazing conversation.” Khan said that it came about because there was unfinished business. They had the match and I thought our fans would love to settle it inside the ring. “At the Wrestling Revolver Show, they had a tag match. To be honest, I spoke to them and thought it would be nice to have a matching and build some interest. Then have the story come to Ring of Honor, where Athena was the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion and Billie Starkz was her minion. There is a lot of excitement in that.”
“Ronda came here with a smile and was fantastic. The crowd was very excited to see her, and it was an excellent match. We’d love her to come back someday.”
“She is local, she lives near and that really made it possible. Anytime it’s convenient, I’d love to see her again because she was incredible.” If you want to watch it, go to ROH,” Khan said.
“With Ronda it’s an one-shot deal. If Ronda wants more work, they will use her at any time. Meltzer said that Ronda was doing Marina a favor by helping her.
Meltzer, however, emphasized that although Rousey may work matches occasionally, she will not likely commit to a schedule.
“Ronda had a reason for wanting to finish.” Meltzer explained that the reason was a family one. “All of the shows she has worked on have been in Los Angeles. They’ve all been with Marina. It’s just a night of fun for her. It’s not as if she’s on a road trip or anything of the sort.”
“She didn’t go to AEW to leave WWE.” Stranger things have occurred, but the idea was that when she left WWE she was done wrestling and was moving on to her next stage in life.
