Billy Corgan, owner of NWA, has funded the promotion.

Update:

NWA owner Billy Corgan refutes the claims made in this report. Corgan said, “Not at any time.” When asked if the next recording sessions would include cost-cutting measures, he replied, “Not even close.” Not even close. Total fabrication.”

Corgan said that a one-day shoot at NWA can cost up to six figures.

According to reports, the NWA is looking to reduce costs.

According to Haus of Wrestling, roster cuts will likely take place after the company’s January TV tapings. Production cuts and cost-saving measures will also be implemented soon.

According to reports, the cuts are due to NWA owner Billy Corgan funding the promotion for many years without much sponsorship money. Corgan is said to have spent millions on Power and the NWA reality show, and that cuts are necessary for the company’s current level of operation.

The NWA tapings this weekend in Sarasota will run with “a bare bones crew”, with mostly only contracted talent taking part. Mike Knox and Violent J will be the only wrestlers who are not contracted to attend the shows. Violent J, however, flies in himself and works for free.

The matches announced for this weekend include EC3 defending his NWA World title, against Jax Dane and Kenzie Paige defending her NWA World Women’s Title against Samantha Starr.

Nick Hausman wrote that he was unsure how many wrestlers would be released by the promotion. “It was emphasized that all contracted talent is under review and the benefits to the company are being weighed.” He wrote that some talent who do not have formal contracts will probably just be ignored for future bookings.

The news comes after last month’s report stating that Corgan had become frustrated with the talent in the promotion.

The NWA will pay for hotel accommodation, so there is no need to fly talent out the night before tapings. Hair and makeup budgets will also be cut by half.

The NWA announced late in August that it would be upgrading its production. These upgrades were reportedly done in anticipation of The CW’s television deal. CW officials, however, were upset about the “cocaine ad” that James Mitchell did at NWA Samhain. Now, it is believed that NWA content can only be viewed on the CW App and not on TV.
